How to Change Your MAC Address on Android

What is a Mac address?

A MAC Address also known as Media Access Control is a hardware identification number that is used to identify your device on any network e.g. Your home network or public Wi-Fi. The MAC address is manufactured in every network card that exists. If you don’t have a MAC address you will not be able to connect to any LAN (Local Area Network) or WAN (Wide Area Network).

Why would you want to change your MAC Address?

Well if you are connected to a public Wi-Fi network you might want to consider changing your MAC Address just for the sake of your privacy as your device is identified by your MAC Address or Maybe you have reached your data cap on the public network changing your MAC Address will allow you to reconnect and use the Internet on the network again !! Some ISP’s Also keeps track of their devices by using MAC addresses, changing your MAC Address can stop this.

How to change your MAC Address on any Android device that has root Access

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1:

Download Change my MAC from the google play store

Step 2:

Open up the app, you will be asked to grant Root access to the app, Grant it.

Step 3:

Click on the Shuffle icon and hit the check mark. After a few seconds your MAC will change.

All Done!! You can always revert back to the original MAC in the app by clicking on the revert icon.
